Darwin!

G'd day, mates!
Today we arrived our last city in Australia, Darwin. Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory of Australia, and it is the smallest and the most northerly of the Australian capital cities. What differs from other countries we have visited, is that Australia is split into territories which have their own capitals. Sydney and Canberra are the capitals of New South Wales, and Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory.

Darwin has got its name by the lieutenant of the ship HMS Beagle, John Clements Wickham who called the city "Darwin" to honor the naturalist Charles Darwin. Charles was a former shipmate on the HMS Beagle.

We spent a whole day in Darwin, and we really LOVED the city! It was one of the most beautiful cities we have ever seen. Darwin has got beautiful weather from April to October, with warm days and blue skies. We both wish the climate was like Darwin's in Norway!

We also swam in a wonderful lake! It was a beautiful experience.
We really want to come back to Darwin some day!

Tomorrow, early in the morning, we are leaving Australia. The time we spent here was amazing, and both of us enjoyed the country Australia the most.

Hugs and kisses to Australia (and our readers of course) from:
Annette & Sofie.
